My rating system.
* Probably didn't finish and I finish 99% of the books I start.
** Not a fan. I finished just on principle.
*** Pretty good and worth the read.
**** Above average. If there is a sequel I will read it.

This author was recommended by my children several years ago. I have since read all his work, I highly recommend him.
This was the best of the series. Interesting storylines, but still unnecessary characters and default. The ending was disappointing as it alludes to further books.
