Really really good! Its Neil Gaiman inspirational art and creativity short essays. How could I not like it!? Also with Chris Riddell's amazing drawings! I didn't give this 5 stars because I didn't realize that I have read most of these already. Make Good Art, I have read and listened to many times, and Building A Chair I have also read before, and some of the Library Essays. The only part that was new to me was the Freedom of Speech sections in the beginning.-Which I loved! And it is wonderful t ...more

My recommendation by heart: GET THIS BOOK.

Yes it is just a rather short book but it is worth every cent.

The combination of Neil Gaiman and Chris Riddell is always one sure to get to my heart and this new book didn't fail it.

Just some wise words by a wise man - about doing things, about humanity and about creating art!

Every aspiring artist (in which way ever) should have this book and read it each and every time they are at a difficult point in their creation!

And those illustrations are just so b

A very quick read (I just read this in work, don't tell anyone) featuring some of Neil Gaiman's wisest words paired with Chris Riddell's fantastic illustrations. Neil's advice basically boils down to 'do the thing that only you can do, and do it well' and it's a wonderful read. Buy one for everyone you know.

(He also loves libraries and librarians, and they're cousins to bookstores. So I feel like he loves us too.)

I don't know that it's an issue for anybody but me, but it's true that nothing I di

A touching and oh-so-important reminder of the importance of art, of making it, consuming it, sharing it. I knew most of these essays beforehand but somehow still needed to read this - and I already can't wait to go back to it and feel as inspired as I do right now. Chris Riddell's illustrations are absolutely stunning, as usual. Neil Gaiman and Chris Riddell collaborations really do make the world a brighter place.

A book full of wisdom and great thoughts and beautiful artwork. Immensely enjoyed it.

Over the years, Chris Riddell has illustrated a few pieces of speeches and essays by Neil Gaiman, to tremendous effect. This brings four of those pictorial essays together into one lovely, small tome, that discusses art, inspiration, and why we need libraries.

Normally I don't read motivational or self-help books, but this time I didn't really know what's coming + I can never "reject"a book, if Neil Gaiman wrote that. The book gives some advice to people who are doing arts or plan to. Although there was nothing new, I totally enjoyed the book and was smiling all the time. And yeah, it wouldn't be as good without Chris Riddel's illustrations.

And after reading, I am planning to use it as a colouring book :D
